Professional Move Process
The moving process can be stressful, but knowing what to expect and how to make it simpler and cheaper can make all the difference. One of the important decisions that is required is selecting a mover. We have partnered with the nation’s leading movers. We recommend using a brand name, reputable, AMSA certified mover to ensure your move goes smoothly. Here are the steps to picking a mover:
Step 1: Get a Ballpark Price of how much your move will cost. Costs are dependent on 2 key criteria: the weight of your household goods and the distance it travels.
Step 2: Request Estimates from up to 3 reputable, brand name movers. Plan in advance, movers get very busy as it gets closer to the summer months.
Step 3: Someone from the moving companies will contact you to answer questions, verify information and schedule an appointment. For small moves, they may quote a price over the phone, but typically a moving professional needs to visit your home to give you an accurate estimate.
Step 4: Get your estimates, learn about the moving companies, and find out about any specific features/services they provide, then book your move.
Step 5: Move to your new home!
Do-It-Yourself Move Process
Step 1: Decide what size vehicle will accommodate all your household goods. Our service provider can assist you in deciding what size truck is right for you.
Step 2: Decide what equipment and supplies you need: hand truck, furniture pads, dish-pack boxes, wardrobe boxes, bubble wrap, tape, padlock, sofa and chair covers, and mattress covers.
Step 3: Reserve your rental truck, equipment and supplies at least three days before you plan to pick them up.
Pricing Method
Pricing is determined by the type of move. See below for more info.
Local (Less than 50 miles but within the same state.)
Pricing for local self moving is based on an hourly rate, numbers of miles driven and equipment rented or supplies purchased.
Intrastate (Greater than 50 miles, but with the same state.)
Pricing for intrastate self moving is based on a flat, one-way rate, mileage charged and equipment rented or supplies purchased.
Interstate (To a different state.)
Pricing for interstate self moving is based on a one-way rate, mileage charges and equipment rented or supplies purchased.
Note: Be certain to pick up your truck early enough to complete your move within your timeframe. Allow ample time to load, make your journey and unload.
